For the past two days I haven’t been live blogging. \u00a0Why? Because, I’ve been in award deliberations. \u00a0This year, I had the honor of serving on the GLBT-RT’s Stonewall Book Award Committee.<\/p>\n

Starting last March, I began to receive a whole slew of books- ranging from Children’s\/Young Adult, to Non-Fiction, to Literature, and was tasked (along with other committee members) to highlight books that held merit. \u00a0The award is the first, and most enduring award honoring the gay\/lesbian\/bisexual\/transgender experience.<\/p>\n

This evening, we announced the Literature and Non-Fiction award and honor books- tomorrow morning we announce the winners in the Children’s\/Young Adult category.<\/p>\n

Literature Winner:<\/strong>\u00a0Prelude to a Bruise<\/em> by Saeed Jones<\/p>\n

Literature Honor:\u00a0The Two Hotels Francfort<\/em> by David Leavitt<\/p>\n

Literature Honor:\u00a0Bitter Eden<\/em> by Tatamkhulu Afrika<\/p>\n

Literature Honor:\u00a0Frog Music<\/em> by Emma Donoghue<\/p>\n

Literature Honor:\u00a0My Real Children<\/em> by Jo Walton<\/p>\n

Non-Fiction Winner:<\/strong>\u00a0Living Out Islam: Voices of Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Muslims\u00a0<\/em>by Scott Kugle<\/p>\n

Non-Fiction Honor:\u00a0Gay Berlin: A Birthplace of a Modern Identity\u00a0<\/em>by Robert Beachy<\/p>\n

Non-Fiction Honor:\u00a0Redefining Realness<\/em> by Janet Mock<\/p>\n

Non-Fiction Honor:\u00a0Hold Tight Gently<\/em> by Martin Duberman<\/p>\n

Non-Fiction Honor:\u00a0Charity and Sylvia: A Same-Sex Marriage in Early America<\/em> by Rachel Hope Cleves<\/p>\n
