At the ALA Youth Media Awards Press Conference during the ALA Midwinter Conference to be held in Philadelphia, PA on Monday, January 27, 2014, many very anticipated book awards will be announced. The committees have been relentlessly reading all year, but if you are an ALSC member, now is your last opportunity to suggest titles for the committees to consider. The Mildred L. Batchelder Award is given to the most outstanding children’s book originally published in a language other than English in a country other than the United States, and subsequently translated into English for publication in the United States.
