Dí­a, sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This is the 15th anniversary of the event, originally proposed by children’s author, Pat Mora. Libraries around the country recognize Dí­a as a great opportunity to bring children together Plans for the actual anniversary date–April 30, 2011–include a special presentation by Pat Mora at a library to be identified soon.
