ALSC’s book award committees are a big deal, and for good reason. There’s nothing quite like attending the annual Youth Media Awards ceremony and getting to hear which new author or illustrator will be honored. The audience goes wild in support–standing, clapping, cheering, and celebrating in the best way possible. I always love seeing the committee members stand and wave to the audience when their award is named. Serving on a book award committee is a ton of work, but also…what a thrill!

ALSC New Member Dinner at #alaac18
The first new member dinner was coordinated by the ALSC Membership Committee in Denver at MW 2018! We were so excited to host another dinner here in New Orleans for the 2018 Annual Conference. A group of about 24 people met this evening at Outlaw Pizza Company at 6:30pm. A few thanks… Thank you to Outlaw Pizza Company for providing us with a nice private space and great customer service! The food was excellent! My second thank you goes out to our Membership Committee for coordinating this dinner again. Trying to find a big enough (affordable) space, make a flyer, reach out to new ALSC/conference members, get confirmations, and coordinate food is not always the easiest, but they made it happen here in New Orleans. New Member Video Debuts at #alaac16
Today at the Leadership & ALSC session, ALSC premiered a new video, You Belong Here: Membership with ALSC. This video was created through the was a project of the ALSC Membership Committee which received funding support from the Friends of ALSC and Children’s Library Service Endowment.
