So You Want to Co-Chair an ALSC Committee

One of the most rewarding aspects of my time as an ALSC member has been the opportunity to serve as committee co-chair. I have served as co-chair of what was once the Public Awareness Committee, then stayed on as the committee merged with Advocacy, now known as the Public Awareness and Advocacy Committee. I am now in my second year as co-chair of the Membership Committee.  Committee chairing is not for everyone. You can get so much out of ALSC membership without stepping into a leadership position. Let’s Hear it for Process Committees and Task Forces!

Some of the children’s book and media award committees were discussing new titles under consideration for various honors. At the same time, other committees such as the 2018 Pura Belpré Award selection committee were celebrating their winning authors and illustrators. Exciting ALSC co-sponsored…

ALSC Committee Volunteer Form Now Online!

Learn more about how to volunteer for ALSC Committees

I’m thrilled to announce that ALSC’s committee volunteer form is now online.  We are transitioning to ALA’s online committee form, which, while not highly customizable, will allow you to share more thorough open-ended responses.  Just log in and use the drop down menu to select ALSC. I will start making appointments to process committees later in January (for appointments that begin following Annual Conference 2017), so now is a great time to think about volunteering.
