It’s that time of year! At the end of this month, the ALA Youth Media Awards will be announced! These prestigious children’s literature awards include the Newbery Award, the Caldecott Award, the Geisel Award, the Sydney Taylor Award, the Printz Award, and more! In preparation, libraries, classrooms, book groups, and children’s lit fans are offering Mock Election programs to discuss 2025 titles and choose the best of the best through Mock programs. The ALSC Blog collects winning titles from Mock programs around the globe on its 2026 Mock YMA Results Page. ALSC invites you to share the results of your mock election program!

The public announcement of the Medal-winning and Honor titles will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The announcement will take place at the Hilton Chicago hotel (720 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605). The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required for in-person attendance. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, January 21.
The announcement will also be live streamed at ala.unikron.com and on the ALA Facebook page. No registration is required to view the livestream.
