As ALSC members around the country prepare to travel to New Orleans for LibLearnX, or to tune into the Youth Media Awards virtually, we invite them all to attend the Winter ALSC Membership Gathering on Thursday, January 19th at 3:00 PM Eastern.
Membership gatherings are a chance not only to come together and learn about ALSC (if we’re new to the organization) briefly, but also a chance to engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow ALSC members from around the country. At our September gathering, we learned about the different ways to be involved in ALSC, including service on award committees, and explored different professional development opportunities within ALA.
At our January 19th Gathering, we’ll participate in a Mock Caldecott discussion and have a chance to learn about what ALSC has planned for this year. Please plan to attend, even if you won’t make it to New Orleans this year. Invite your colleagues and friends who may already be ALSC members, or who may be interested in learning more.
If you’ve never participated in a Mock Award discussion before, this is a great opportunity to dip your toes into the process, hear about some great books, and get excited about the real announcements to come.
We will email all registrants the full list of books we will be discussing on January 6th and updating the registration link accordingly.
All ALSC members—new, prospective, retired, and everything in between–are invited to attend this virtual gathering. You are what makes ALSC the success that it is, and we’d love to see your virtual face on January 19th!
