Fall Into Fall with the ALSC Membership Committee

In anticipation of this year’s soon approaching ALSC Institute, the ALSC Membership Committee will be hosting a virtual gathering as an opportunity to meet and/or reconnect with others. All current and potential ALSC members are invited to attend our Virtual Fall Membership Gathering on Wednesday, September 21st at 11am PT / 12 pm MT / 1pm CT / 2pm ET. The Membership Committee hopes to continue to provide an intentional and fun space for people to connect.

What can you expect at this gathering? We’ll be providing some general information about ALSC, ideas about how to volunteer and what time commitments you could expect, insights into book award committees, and professional development opportunities. There will also be time for networking opportunities, so we can chat and get to know one another.

These gatherings have been some of my favorite moments while serving on the Membership Committee. I joined ALSC in late 2019 and in this brief time, I’ve attended a couple of these virtual sessions prior to volunteering on any committee. I was able to learn more about the volunteer process and learn more about the committees from members in attendance. It made the process of applying for committees less intimidating and less overwhelming as a new ALSC member. It was also a great opportunity to hear and learn from other youth services staff! At the start of the pandemic, I truly appreciated others’ experiences and advice. It was nice to know that we all shared similar concerns!

We invite you to register here to join us on Wednesday, September 21st at 11am PT / 12pm MT / 1pm CT / 2pm ET. This is a great opportunity for anyone, whether you are a new or returning member, prospective member, or you just want to visit a space with other youth services enthusiasts.
