I’m thinking back to Thursday pre-conference. I attended the Executive Board Meeting Session 1. During the time that I sat in on the meeting, Stephanie Hlywak, Director of ALA’s Communications and Marketing Office, spoke to the board about her report “Who Speaks for ALA”, Branding and Website Discussion. She also invited a guest speaker to discuss the ALA website and brand position.
The document comes from the Executive Board Document Inventory 2020-2021, where members can sample the current priorities of ALA leadership and the “health” of the organization (finances, member enrollement and so on). At in-person conferences, there would be a table full of these printouts at the back of the room.
I stayed long enough to hear Sherri Vanyek, ALA’s Director Information Technology, weigh in on the recent ALA web outage. Membership statistics also caught my attention.
The full meeting agenda can be found here.
