Each year the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children’s books, recordings, and videos. The Notable Children’s Books committee has been busy reading hundreds of books for young people and has compiled a list of 221 nominated titles which are under consideration for the 2020 Notable Children’s Books list. The 65 titles (noted with an asterisk) that were already discussed at the Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. will not be discussed again, but are included for your reference.
The Notable Children’s Books meetings are open to ALSC members and other ALA Midwinter attendees. The committee looks for books of especially commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry, and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage children’s interests in exemplary ways.
All meetings will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Room 109-AB. Chairperson Melody Frese and her entire committee welcome your attendance! Please join us!
