Today I attended my first official Notable Children’s Recordings meeting! This was my first committee experience, and I have been looking forward to meeting my fellow committee members in person for the first time.
As a member of this committee, I have already listened to more than 150 hours of audiobooks and other children’s recordings this year (and I have a large pile of recordings waiting for me at home). While my long commute helped me keep up with my listening, the last few weeks before the conference required some creative listening activities to make sure I finished my assigned recordings on time.
Our committee is meeting in Palmer House, Lasalle 3 this year. Our meetings are open to all conference attendees, so if you are attending ALA Annual 2017, stop by tomorrow afternoon between 1-4 pm to learn about some of our favorite children’s (ages 0-14) audiobooks of the year. During our meetings, we discuss rules and procedures as well as the pros and cons of each nominated book based on our selection criteria.
