Tween Pride Reads

June is coming to an end, but there’s still enough time to make a Pride display, or get the right book into the right kid’s hand. Representation matters. Take a look at this list of LGBTQIA middle grade and have them at the ready for your kids.

Stonewall Award winner. George knows that she’s a girl, even though when people look at her, they think they see a boy. With the help of her best friend Kelly, George comes up with a plan to let everyone know exactly who she is.

Manga. Shuichi Nitori and his new friend Yoshino Takatsuki have happy homes and good lives. But they share a secret: Shuichi is a boy who wants to be a girl, and Yoshino is a girl who wants to be a boy.

Two seemingly unrelated storylines collide in Brian Selznick’s latest beautiful book and it’s up to Joseph, who has run away from school to his uncle’s house, to piece them together and figure everything out.

13 year old best friends Stephen and Marco attempt a heist to break into the high school prom so that Marco can profess his love for his crush, prom band member and adorable exchange student Benji.

Graphic Novel. Callie’s school is putting on Moon over Mississippi, and hijinks ensue both onstage and backstage among the players and crew!
