Those of us who are home from ALA Midwinter in Philly are probably spending plenty of time reflecting right now. The books, the conversations, the new ideas, the new friends. I met a gaggle of school librarians from Tacoma my first night in Philly and had great fun chatting with them about books and school and libraries, and ran into them several times- instant friends because of our common interests and passions. This happens so much at the conference that it is an experience we cannot replace any other way. Of course we all spent hours looking at books, talking about books, getting new ideas for storytime and blogs and programs and crafts. But the other conference experience that totally ROCKS in Philly is the aptly named Reading (pronounced RED like the color) Terminal Market. Right across from the convention center, this is a foodie’s dream. Tamales, Po Boys, falafel, donuts, coffee, preztels, cheese… oh my. My new ideas are all jumbled up with flavors from round the world. Reflection is sweet indeed!
