Two days before travel and I am frantically trying to get organized for #ala2013 in Chicago! Believe it or not, this is the first time I am attending a conference in Chicago, and I am finding myself incredibly grateful to be living in this age of the smart phone. As a school librarian, the last few weeks have been a mad dash to the end of classes, returns, shelving, inventory and now ordering. Between figuring out what to pack for potentially stormy weather, and downloading the Chicago public transit apps, I am putting together a book order.
I am one of many who will be live blogging the meeting, and I cannot wait to be filled with the inspiration that tends to accompany the sharing of professional work. I am particularly interested in attending Junk Food, Beer & Books: Intellectual Freedom in a Commercialized World as well as Librarians in the Driver’s Seat: Leading Your School Through PBL . And of course, there is the Newbery Caldecott banquet. While I am not attending the banquet proper, I highly recommend attending the cocktail party prior, and the speeches after the dinner!
What sessions are you all looking forward to?
