You’ve Got a Friend(s) in ALSC….

This past year a brand new logo for the Friends of ALSC was unveiled along with the announcement of a direct URL address of http://www.ala.org/alsc/donate.  We hope this new logo and new URL will help ALSC promote the work of the Friends group and the generous nature of its members.  The Friends of ALSC also supported two ALSC Institute scholarships for Amanda Struckmeyer and Joella Peterson to attend the program in Indianapolis.  Also supported were two Nook and a Book prizes: one during the Annual Conference raffle and one virtually for the ALSC eBadge Contest.

As we gear up for further changes in 2013 for Friends of ALSC, we invite you to make a donation prior to the conclusion of 2012. The Friends membership year follows calendar year — January through December — and will culminate in an end-of-year thank you/membership drive letter highlighting the uses of Friends of ALSC funds for the year.

All contributors to Friends of ALSC will continue to receive a special listing in ALSC’s newsletter, ALSConnect, their name on the ALSC website, and a Friend of ALSC ribbon at conferences and Institutes. Members of the Friends of ALSC President’s Circle receive an invitation to the VIP reception preceding the Newbery/Caldecott banquet. Additionally, donors are recognized in the PowerPoint presentation at the Newbery/Caldecott banquet.

A gift to the Friends of ALSC is a great way to show your continuing support for the libraries and librarians across the country serving all children and building a nation of readers. Your contribution will pay real dividends, bolstering excellence in our association’s programs, services, and new initiatives as we work in creating a better future for children through libraries.

As this year draws to a close and another begins, many of us think about the meaningful relationships that enriched our lives in the past and will continue to do so in the future.  I hope that you have found some of these relationships among your colleagues within ALSC.  One meaningful way to acknowledge those friendships while supporting our profession at the same time—is to become a Friend of ALSC.  I hope you will join me in this commitment by connecting to http://www.ala.org/alsc/donate.

I also sincerely thank all those who have already made Friends of ALSC donations this year. Your support of ALSC is greatly appreciated.
