Topic of workshop sounds interesting. Getting caring adults interested in early literacy and helping them understand how they can help children acquire early literacy concepts and skills through reading aloud is a topic I and my coauthor Susan Marx have written a book about. Because we meet many people in our “Help Me Get Ready To Read Workshops” who are interested in reading aloud and in providing both reading and parenting strategies to support children in acquiring confidence and competence before they enter kindergarten, we know that this topic of school readiness and in particular being READY to learn to read has its roots in children’s first five years. Hope the conference and meetings are successful. I’ll check in to see about them. Thanks and best wishes.

    Friends,
It must have been a very busy day when I visited the blog and commented on library programs for school readiness. Here is my revised comment.

The topic of the workshop sounds interesting. Getting caring adults interested in understanding how to support children in acquiring early literacy concepts and skills through reading aloud is a topic my coauthor, Susan Marx, and I have recently written a book about. We meet many people in our “Help Me Get Ready To Read Workshops” who enjoy reading aloud. In our workshop, we model reading strategies and parenting strategies adults can use to read aloud effectively so that young children become competent, confident, and are READY to learn to read when they enter kindergarten. I hope the conference and meetings were successful. I’ll check in to see about them. Thanks and best wishes. Happy Reading Aloud!
