Wordle

I visit Tasha Saecker’s Sites and Soundbytes frequently. During one of those visits, I learned about Wordle, “a toy for generating ‘word clouds’ from text that you provide.”

I created one using some of the words from the About ALSC page. Here is the result:

Jonathan Feinberg is the creator of Wordle, a personal project that he developed using core algorithms he wrote at IBM Research. He states on the Wordle FAQ page that he can’t share the code, but you are free to use the images that you create.

I think it’s lots of fun.

For some really cool educational uses for Wordle, check out Bob Sprankle’s tutorial. Excellent ideas.

Thanks for the link and thanks for reading! Wordle should probably come with an addiction warning, so be forewarned. Every document you work with for awhile will tempt you to launch it in Wordle.
