ALA Annual 2013

I’m here! I’m here!

I arrived in Chicago yesterday for #ala2013, my very first ALA Annual Conference!  Parking garage confusion and traffic aside, I’m so glad to be here and I’m ready to head over to McCormick Place to register and get things started!

I’m a youth services librarian and a former teacher, and I try to keep up with the latest developments in library services and education.  I’m not sure what I’ll glean from five days at ALA, but the opportunities for learning seem endless.  So what is it that I want from this experience?

I want to be inspired.

I want to have ideas to take back to my library and our patrons that inspire them to visit the library often.  I want ideas to inspire my colleagues to encourage them to shine as they serve our patrons.  I want to leave Chicago so full of excitement and passion for children’s librarianship that I make my co-workers want to throw up (not really).

I can’t wait!  C’mon, #ala2013!  Inspire me!
