This October, to celebrate election season and children’s book illustrators, Rochester Public Library (MN) Children’s Services staffer Jon Allen invited kids and their grown ups to VOTE FOR THE GREATEST CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATOR OF ALL TIME!
This was no easy task as staff had to first select 64 of the greatest illustrators (of all time) and as you can imagine, we all had varying opinions on the topic.
The tournament consisted of six rounds, with the final round ending on election day. Votes were tabulated weekly and the illustrators in the running were cut in half and a new voting form was made available.
Kids were updated on the tournament via a large bracket poster, so they could check in to see how their favorite illustrators were doing.
And in the end, after hundreds of votes, the winner was announced.
