El Dìa de los niños/El dìa de los libros (Dia)

El Dìa de los niños/El dìa de los libros (Dìa) is celebrating its 16th year and wants everyone to participate in the fun!

What is Dìa?

Dìa is sponsored by the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC) and highlights the importance of advocating literacy for children of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Main Dìa events can be scheduled for April 30, however many libraries are presenting programs and events in April and May. To stress the importance of reading and literacy the motto “Dìa! Today and Every Day of the Year” was created. It is hoped that the Dìa celebration will last throughout the entire year at library locations.

How do I start?

Please visit the homepage and explore the available resources.  Registration is now open. ALSC, with additional support from Dollar General Literacy Foundation, reorganized the website and added content to help with preparations. Booklists, coloring pages, activity sheets, webinars and much more can be found there to help host programs and events. Resources for parents, public and private libraries are available. Register your events and receive free stickers and buttons, while supplies last. You can also share your ideas and activities with libraries across the country. Additionally, follow Dìa on facebook.

Many Books, Many Children, Many Cultures! Enjoy!
