Those who were lucky enough to attend the Membership Meeting at the 2011 Annual Conference in New Orleans were treated to an extremely moving speech. Dudley Carlson, the winner of the 2011 ALSC Distinguished Service Award generously returned the money associated with the annual award and matched the funds as a gift to the ALSC Staff. At one point, I looked around room and found many, many damp eyes.
