Bluebonnets and Wildflowers

One of the things I love about Spring in Texas is the wildflowers–especially the bluebonnets. It’s worth the heat of the summer to know that if the rains are right we’ll have fields of bluebonnets in March and April, along with other wildflowers. Many people are familiar with books like Tomie dePaola’s The Legend of the Bluebonnet but I want to share a special book that explains more about why the bluebonnets and wildflowers are so prevalent today. I thought about Lady Bird Johnson today as I saw the first bluebonnets of spring.
